How MPKAY Works

Step 1 – Obtain Your MPKAY Card

Eligible police personnel receive an official MPKAY Health Card or identification through their police department. The card includes:
  • Police ID Number
  • Family Member Details
  • Scheme Validity

Step 2 – Visit an Empanelled Hospital

Visit any MPKAY empanelled hospital across Maharashtra, including Onco-Life. Carry:
  • MPKAY Card
  • Police ID
  • Government-issued Photo ID

Step 3 – Direct Hospital Admission

Unlike many government schemes, MPKAY generally allows direct admission without requiring a referral. Hospital staff register the patient under MPKAY and complete member verification.

Step 4 – Pre-Authorization

The hospital submits treatment details for approval. Pre-authorization timelines vary depending on the treatment, member verification, supporting documentation and scheme authority processing. Emergency treatment can begin immediately, with authorization completed subsequently as per scheme provisions.

Step 5 – Receive Cashless Treatment

Once approved, treatment is provided on a cashless basis for eligible beneficiaries at empanelled hospitals, within the approved disease categories and applicable government-approved rates. Coverage includes:
  • Hospitalization
  • Surgery
  • ICU Care
  • Medicines
  • Diagnostics
  • Doctor Fees
Room-category upgrades, treatment outside the approved disease categories, and charges beyond applicable government-approved rates are not covered by the scheme and remain the beneficiary’s responsibility.

Step 6 – Discharge & Follow-up

Patients receive:
  • Discharge Summary
  • Medical Reports
  • Follow-up Schedule
Post-discharge medicines are provided as per the discharge advice and applicable scheme provisions.

MPKAY Coverage for Cancer Treatment

MPKAY offers comprehensive support for cancer patients within the scheme’s approved disease categories.

Covered Services Include:

Relevant investigations, imaging and pathology—including PET-CT, MRI, CT scans and tumour marker tests—are covered when authorized as part of approved treatment under applicable scheme rules and government-approved rates.
