The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a government-funded healthcare programme managed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, offering comprehensive medical care to Central Government employees, pensioners and other eligible beneficiaries. Among the Government Health Insurance Schemes available in India, CGHS provides outpatient (OPD) care through CGHS Wellness Centres, along with hospitalization, medicines, preventive healthcare and specialist treatment through empanelled hospitals across 80+ cities.
CGHS also covers advanced treatments, including cancer surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, diagnostics and long-term follow-up care. At Onco-Life, our dedicated CGHS support team assists eligible patients with eligibility verification, referrals, pre-authorization, hospital admission and end-to-end cancer treatment coordination.

CGHS Treatment Process
Step 1 – Visit a CGHS Wellness Centre

The doctor may:

The hospital submits your admission request for CGHS approval. Approval timelines vary depending on beneficiary type, departmental authorization, referral, supporting documentation and portal processing.
