Radiology & Imaging in Pune

Radiology and Imaging Services in Pune

Accurate imaging is the foundation of good cancer care. Diagnosing cancer early, staging it precisely, planning treatment, and detecting recurrence all depend on the quality of the scans and the expertise of the doctors who report them.

At Onco-Life Cancer Centre in Pune, the radiology and imaging department brings together PET-CT, digital X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and CT-guided biopsy under one roof, with AERB-approved facilities and experienced radiologists working alongside the oncology team.

Why Radiology Matters in Cancer Care

Radiology uses advanced imaging to see inside the body without surgery. In cancer care, it helps with:

  • Detecting cancer at an early stage, often before symptoms begin
  • Confirming the size, location, and spread of a tumour
  • Guiding treatment planning for surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy
  • Checking how a tumour is responding to treatment
  • Detecting recurrence and monitoring long-term outcomes
  • Guiding biopsies and other minimally invasive procedures

Every imaging test at Onco-Life is planned in coordination with the treating oncologist so that each scan answers a specific clinical question and is not repeated unnecessarily.

Imaging Services at Onco-Life Pune

PET-CT Scan The most sensitive imaging test for many cancers. Combines PET (which shows how active a tumour is) with CT (which shows anatomy) in a single sitting. Useful for staging, treatment response assessment, and detecting recurrence. Read our full guide on PET-CT scans in cancer.

Digital X-ray Quick, low-dose imaging for bones, chest, and soft tissues. Often the first test is used to assess suspicious symptoms.

Ultrasound (Sonography) Radiation-free imaging for the abdomen, pelvis, breast, and soft-tissue lumps. Also used to guide certain biopsies.

Mammography A specialised low-dose X-ray of the breast used for screening and evaluation of breast lumps or nipple discharge. Recommended annually for women from age 40, or earlier with family history. See our Breast Cancer Speciality Unit for coordinated care.

CT-Guided Biopsy Real-time CT imaging is used to guide a needle precisely to a deep tumour, allowing safe tissue sampling from lungs, liver, kidneys, and other organs without open surgery.

Referral for MRI and Specialised Tracers Where MRI or a specialised PET tracer (such as DOTATATE or PSMA) is needed, Onco-Life coordinates the scan with a partner imaging centre and integrates results into your treatment plan.
