Role in Cancer Patient Care

Cancer patients often need input beyond oncology alone. Dr. Patil supports the cancer team in the following ways:

  • Pre-anaesthesia evaluation before major cancer surgery, checking heart, lung, and general health fitness for surgery
  • Anaesthesia delivery during oncology procedures, tailored to the patient’s overall health and prior treatments
  • Orthopaedic review for patients with bone-related symptoms, mobility problems, or musculoskeletal side effects of cancer treatment
  • Post-operative pain management to support faster recovery and comfort during onward cancer treatment

All decisions about cancer diagnosis and treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy) are made by the treating oncology team. Dr. Patil’s role is supportive and procedural.
